Granite may be great but an increasing number of high-end designers are turning their attention towards a material that is lighter, brighter and more versatile. Yes, we are talking about all varieties of glass. In high-end designers’ eyes, tempered glass in solid or blended colors is often just as desirable as recycled glass mixed in with industrial strength binders and other earth-friendly materials. Many people also love the fact that glass countertops are so easy to care for, whether they’re made out of solid slabs or a combination of materials.
Solid slabs are generally cleaned with standard, household glass cleaners and paper towels. Recycled glass countertops, on the other hand, may require a bit more care because of the binders, pigments and other earth-friendly materials involved. For example, some of those added materials are porous. As such, the surfaces may need to be sealed, waxed and kept away from acidic foods, beverage or harsh cleansers. Otherwise, they may develop areas marred by stains, pitting, etching and other surface damage.
At Hutchison Glass & Mirror, we custom fabricate glass countertops for all areas of the home. Plus, we can help incorporate glass into other residential or commercial design elements as well. For instance, let’s say that an interior designer is working on remodeling a person’s kitchen and the plans call for the following:
- Glass Countertops
- Glass Cabinet Doors
- Glass Backsplashes
- Glass Lighting
- Glass Room Dividers
- Etched Glass Window Panes
- Glass Pantry Shelves
- Glass Drawer Fronts
- Glass Tabletops
Our fabrication and installation experts can contribute their skills to all of those projects, thereby ensuring a seamless look to the room. Furthermore, customers who purchase large quantities of customized glass countertops and other design elements may be eligible for a substantial discount.
